Planet Washington’s Ken Rynne Explained Washington, DC in mirth and song to members of the Diplomatic Corps and other people who know John Kerry’s direct dial on the eve of President Obama’s 2d Inauguration. They laughed, they sang along, and gave us better than a diplomatic reception.

PBS recently aired a 60 minute special MARK RUSSELL’S AMERICA – Mark Russell’s greatest hits over decades of TV specials spoofing Warren G. Harding through Barack Obama. Ask your local PBS station to rebroadcast it.
Although maestro Russell is retired from public performances, he maintains a lively blog on current events at www.markrussell.net
Planet Washington’s Ken Rynne continues the tradition of comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable in quip and song at The Westin Washington DC City Center on M Street – and wherever two or three are gathered – with cash.
“FORWARD” – BARACK OBAMA SUPERSTAR!
“JUST GO AWAY” – AMERICA
Planet Washington will present a special show of wicked funny and musical spoofs of the elections, the candidates, and all the fun, fudge, and gridlock that is Washington – in the weekend between the two presidential debates:
Our Triumphant Return to DC: At our old haunt The Westin, formerly the Vista International, made infamous in 1990 when DC Mayor Marion Barry was videotaped smoking a small pipe in Room 727 (apparently a non-smoking room) and was escorted out by FBI agents who just happened to be next door (There’s always a cop around when you DON’T need one. ) (“At the Vista with the Sista” is Stop #12 on The Planet Washington Irreverent Tour )
Last time we performed at The Westin our friend and mentor Mark Russell, Dean of DC political satirists, dropped in to share a few of his arrows which were as always right on target!
Mark just turned 80 in August and is still the Jedi Master of musical political parody!
INSIDE E STREET interviewed Ken at The Monocle Restaurant on Capitol Hill – about Ken’s ‘second career’ as a political humorist – and lessons learned from starting one’s own business.
Ken’s truly rediculous evolution from lawyer, Hill staffer, banker to humorist (his “rags from riches” story) was recounted in the 2010 almost best selling ‘What’s Next? Follow Your Passion and Find Your Dream Job’ by Kerry Hannon, Business Editor, US News & World Report (Chronicle Books 2010).

Inside E Street takes a non-partisan, civil look into issues critical to Americans, especially those north of 50. It’s your inside resource on financial and health issues.

Planet Washington’s "Most Creative" Ken Rynne Wins Foundation Support – Grantmakers’ Annual Meeting – DC’s Arena Stage
At a recent private show, Planet Washington performed an original parody at the new Arena Stage in DC for the annual meeting of the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers (WRAG), the 100 largest private foundations in the greater Washington region! “Grantmaker!” (parody of “Matchmaker” from “Fiddler on the Roof”).
We were accompanied by Planet Washington’s Frank Plumer and joined in song by some very talented and enthusiastic members of local foundations on stage and throughout the audience. There was a voluntary sing-along for all members attending the luncheon!
The featured luncheon speaker — addressed Creativity — and was delighted with our show — deeming us one of the true creatives!
Many thanks to the Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation for sponsoring the outstanding entertainment – including Planet Washington!
Ken Rynne & Planet Washington is available to entertain your next event – and to write an original ditty to delight your guests or honorees!
